Although I don't want this to come across as "please tell me I'm doing the right thing and make me feel good", I would be really interested in what others think about this. Can the use of git and software engineering tools be inadequate or distracting?
Is it not that important in research? Currently? What about ideally?
Is it possible for these practices to not feel so selfless?
