Tried Blue Sky. It's fine. Finding people is easy and the text search is nice. It tends to lag at weird moments. Otherwise it's not as good as Mastodon in customizability and features.

The algorithm tends to make Blue Sky a bit too much of a chaotic firehose, and I'm uneasy not knowing what's going on under the surface.

Blue Sky has a lot of the ex_Twitter chattering clasess, and a lot of academics, but not much else. Seems less diverse than Mastodon.
