the last time i tried to switch to linux, i actually wrote a journal of the process. it ended up about 8,000 words of me trying to get every wi-fi dongle i could find in my house to work, one after the other, and having no success with any of them. burning through a bunch of packages, reading readme files, running commands like "add repository weird-ports-by-randos", and eventually i got one wi-fi adaptor to work, at a maximum of 0.6 mbps. i went back to windows
