To all non-Brazilian nostriches that were following on #nostr the debacle in #Brazil between Musk and Justice Morais that caused the ban of X in the country, here are some updates concerning the growing #government #overreach in the country:
- While Brazil is ravaged by some of the worst forest fires in history caused by both criminal arson and an extreme dry climate, the government announced around 1am in the morning that it may cease “forgotten” money from bank accounts;
- Given that an enormous percentage of Brazilian land was already destroyed, the government announced intent on seizing these affected private property from Brazilian citizens in order to do damage control;
- With record public spending and an ever growing increase debt, the Brazilian tax authority announced the development of an IA to track crypto assets from Brazilian citizens across blockchains and block access to them. An existing system allows blocking of fiat currency in bank accounts - to which I myself was once subjected to when facing a legal process - called BAJUD. It will now extend its reach to crypto exchanges.
