Selaco is a testament to what a bunch of enthusiasts can do with a 33 years old engine, but I just have to criticize the level design.
Look, I get it, the fact that the technology is fairly lightweight by modern standards gives you the ability to cram extensive locations just into one level, but everything kinda looks same-y and you have to rely on the automap a lot. There were sections where I just walked through them in the automap mode. And if your players have to rely on the automap just to acknowledge your location - you've done fucked up.
There's also a lot of backtracking. And I mean A LOT. With levels feeling like a maze, it just kills the pacing.
