People that parrot the idea of a "paradox of tolerance" completely miss the point of why banning beliefs is a bad thing to begin with
It's not freedom for the sake of freedom, if it were then sure, banning beliefs that advocate removing people's freedom may be valid, but that's not the point
The reason beliefs should never be banned is the inherently acataleptic nature of knowledge, that is to say, as much as we may consider ourselves certain of something, it's never truly absolute certainty
In an extreme but relevant example, there is a nonzero chance that nazis are right, it is an extremely low chance and as such i obviously don't think they're right, but as it's nonzero they should be allowed to make their point just like anyone else
That's just one of the most extreme examples, the same concept applies to every single claim someone makes about the world, because acatalepsy is universal
Acknowledging acatalepsy is fundamental to having *integrity*, understanding that you can *always* be wrong about *anything*, no matter how absurd being wrong seems
I hate nazis as much as the next queer person, but i don't let that get in the way of having integrity, something far more fundamental than any specific belief
