Been listening to Fire Emblem timeline videos in the background, since there is a concept of a timeline, though not officially acknowledged by the devs. It's sloppier than the Zelda timeline, with a triple timeline split that contains no less than a quadruple timeline split.

Still, it seems like to me that Fire Emblem is a series of race wars, and you can tell how early or late you are in the timeline by checking how many non-human races are around, and if the answer is none, how many dragons are around and if those dragons are using dragon stones.
