Is international trade shifting because of Trump's expected tariff-driven trade war, or was trade already being redirected?
Fifty years ago international trade accounted for around 16% of global GDP, its now about 45%;
products' trade is already concentrating into trading blocs & regional free trade agreements, while many countries are looking to bring production back on shore for political reasons.
We may be past the high point of global trade; but the impact is as yet unclear.
