I am writing an article about what we can do to support Facebook users at risk and will post soon.

But in the meantime, if you see someone making an announcement that they plan to quit a platform, please don’t chide them into staying somewhere they feel unsafe. That would be like chiding your neighbors for driving to the next town for food.

Instead, consider how you can create or support a way to maintain those relationships that will keep them safe.
