tried reading a bunch of “social” editorials published by non-queer journalists, on the lives of non-queer, cishet, monoam, singlet beings and the ways they navigate those lives with or around other similar beings
as far as I can tell, those are actually pretty well-written pieces that would provide genuine insight to their target audiences.
they are also completely, utterly alien to me on a very fundamental level. to such a degree that they do not feel real at all.
despite knowing that a majority of human population can relate to them because that’s how they live.
despite having tried to fit into those patterns, expectations and roles myself, up to and including eight years of a “cishet” relationship.
actual memories of the above do not, in fact, feel any more real now than those editorials. whatever is even left of those memories, that is.
just one more fairy tale of a strange land full of weird people who do incomprehensible things.
now why are we stuck in the middle of that strange land and where’s the way out of here.
