npub12ze486vfl7f9nk2vsan0u07lrd7tfn37f8djqeryl0uztsck8ltsyyhunm (npub12ze…hunm) I love a few of the big grunge bands like Nirvana, L7, Mudhoney, Pearl Jam, Hole and Smashing Pumpkins and while they are all quite different, they are all sorta related by (super)fuzzy distortion, personal/angsty lyrics, drawing on punk and metal and classic rock to varying degrees and all being anti-rock stars. So it does sorta make sense. It was similar in the UK with Britpop. Oasis (awful band) were nothing like Suede or Blur for example, yet they were all lumped together.
