the human society is early modern, so it has all the injustices of that time period.
the angels' society is authoritarian, but not exactly like anything humans have ever done. there's no money, for instance, and because all their immediate needs (food etc.) are provided by god, nobody is at risk of starving to death. but there are greater and lesser castes, fascist snitching & paranoia, & other torments.
