Halley's Comet reached its aphelion, its furthest point from the sun, on Dec. 9, 2023, as it makes its 76-year trip around our solar system. Halley's Comet was last visible from Earth in 1986 and it will appear next in ~2062. It orbits the sun every 75-76 years, so this is the time between appearances. Halley's comet was recorded by Edmund Halley in 1682. It was seen again in 1758, 1835, 1910, and 1986.
