#ItMustHaveBeenYears
Gehenna's first release was the Black Seared Heart demo, which despite a low production budget and them not yet having their full "classic" lineup (guitarist-vocalist Sanrabb being the only one of the then-three who would persist), showed what they were capable of.
This, the title track, is interesting in the way it "progresses" from a weirdly distorted guitar intro, to a lushly beautiful synth riff, to increasingly aggressive and guitar-focused (but catchy) metallic sections, all with obscurely melancholic lyrics. That sort of sums up the band as a whole. No one else quite sounded like them at the time, and yet they fit perfectly into their particular niche in the 90's Norwegian scene.
(Yes, this track was also on my Walpurgisnacht mix.)
