Fell into a Wikipedia rabbit hole: Lenin's Materialism and Empiriocriticism was written against a guy called Alexander Bogdanov, who was trying to fuse ideas of Marx and Mach (my entry point). Lenin won. Bogdanov later started experimenting with blood transfusion for rejuvenation and eternal life, like some current billionaires, until he got a contaminated transfusion and died. It did help against baldness though, apparently
