Last night I saw #OnTheBeach staring Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner.
At first, life seems pretty swell for the hip-set military crowd at the onset of the middle sixties, but an ominous undertone begins to surface, revealing the hideous reality that life on earth was about to become extinct - in waves, no one entirely sure when - but certain of it's arrival.
Through the course of the film we follow several different relationships, and a plethora of reactions to the impending cull - all meant to hold a mirror to some facet of ourselves, desperate to remind us all: "there's still time, but it's running out".
Just as applicable, only a little more real, and a lot more urgent, this 65 years later.
