Many apps depend on Google Play services for FIDO2 via the Google Play FIDO library which works with sandboxed Google Play. Passkeys are supported by AOSP via arbitrary providers as long as apps use the Android 15 APIs when available instead of the Google Play services APIs as we did for Vanadium.
