Ta-Nahesi Coates raises the point that this isn’t complicated, in the way that slavery & its legacy aren’t complicated. Nuance and understanding histories etc is good, of course. But saying “oh I can’t have an opinion or say anything or show any kind of solidarity because it’s all so complex” is avoidant and an ethical cop out.
