Backups work differently in Lightning. On-chain, your key can simply be turned into a BIP39 seed-phrase. In Lightning, this is not enough, because your channel states also need to be backed up.

LND used to provide a seed phrase that could be used to recover, but ONLY with another LND instance, and your channels would automatically be closed and funds transferred to your on-chain balance.
