I found a few years ago an issue on link checker on microsoft. It was analysing link content for vulnerability AFTER the end user reached the location. Not very protective... But can understand to not add a delay on user clicks. Nowadays it seems done different maybe they scan all links ahead of the viewer clicking the link?
