Layoffs aren’t news, I’m sorry to report. Since the 1990s they’ve been a routine ritual sacrifice to appease shareholders. Every month 2 million Americans get laid off. It’s never 3 and it’s never 1. We’ve traded job security for low unemployment even though there’s no great reason to believe there’s any relationship between the two. Big Tech resisted this until a couple of years ago. Now it’s just like everybody else. My latest:
