Today, my family and I are spending the day at an amusement park. I couldn’t help but notice there is an inordinate amount of rides and shops closed.

These closings reduced the supply of rides and shops open to serve patrons; the result, longer lines for everyone. Now, we most certainly could have purchased fast passes, or done other things to mitigate the wait on our end, but this misses the point. These days, we see the effects of government allocation of labor capital in all facets of our lives.

The limited supply of human time, a function of the given number of available, and knowledgeable, individuals to do all the required tasks to continue to provide the goods and services individuals need and want, will necessarily cause trade off choices to have to be made. When government is involved it tends to mean you spend more time waiting and less time acting. This destroys the mental and emotional faculties of a society.

We are now, more than any point in my memory, seeing the effects of this misallocation of our most precious resource. An individual’s time.
