In these times where you just buy what you need, most have become rather individual.
If there is a real break down, most people become extremely dependent on others.
This dependency, need to collaborate, need to get along, need to bring something to the table of value will be very confronting for many.
Although people can adjust fast, we'll they will have to, many lost skills will not come easy.
Investing in those skills and a community is probably a safer bet than a big stockpile.
Self defense, opsec, etc. will also be a necessity (especially when in possession of big stockpiles).
