I would love to see more handcrafting and manual labor. We just need to find a way to do it without the kind of coercion and central planning that just makes things worse. I feel like, in the United States, if we just made it harder to import goods, it would happen automatically. I don’t know how to write the law perfectly. It’s not that I don’t think Americans should be able to have, for example, French wine or Canadian maple syrup, ever. I just don’t think it’s good for us to have every blender, pair of shoes, and hairdryer important from another country. It’s not normal that a country of our size and with our resources can’t make any of its own stuff.
