After a little while, the chasing stopped, and a male joined her on the ground, where they both wandered about a bit, caroling. She continued to step away to do the squatting tail wag thing, and headed across the park toward a large pile of mulch, picking up and inspecting bits of bark along the way. They stopped at another mulch pile, where the female collected what I assume was nesting material, and flew off. Eggs soon, I reckon!
