Amusingly, Mastodon zealots are piling on me telling me that I'm am obviously a newbie who doesn't understand how technology works.

Less amusingly, if I *were* a newbie who didn't understand how technology works, that would make my observations and concerns no less valid.

Not everyone is a tech expert. Not everyone has the same background, expectations, or needs that you do. Those people deserve privacy and safety just as much as "experts" do.
