As you probably don't remember, 5 years ago the Bulgarian equivalent of the IRS was hacked and the personal tax data of practically all live Bulgarians (and many dead ones) was leaked. (Mine was leaked too.)
The authorities apprehended the hacker in a matter of days. He was an employee of a pen testing company that had some rather dubious practices - like hacking companies without permission and then offering them a pentest contract to tell them where the vulnerabilities were.
They even managed to crack his encrypted hard disk by using the company's surveillance video recordings to figure out what passphrase he was entering.
The court case is still ongoing, though.
