Following a discussion on nuclear waste, I have a question for you nuclear mastodon: say we could separate out all the individual isotopes in an economical fashion, would there be anything that we couldn’t reuse for something? I.e. would there be any actual waste?
We can use plutonium for fuel, strontium-90 for space batteries, etc. But are there any we have absolutely no use for? I wonder.
Because if the answer is ‘no’, nuclear waste doesn’t actually exist. It’s just future resources.
