I've quickly gotten used to natural scrolling since switching to Macs with decent trackpads, and while thinking of the subtleties of scroll directions and interactions with different kinds of content I just realized something.

I've always been an "inverted camera" user in games. Until now I rationalized it as matching how you move a camera tripod (move left to point the camera to the right), but... it just hit me that "inverted camera" is literally just "natural scrolling" but for games. You're moving the *world* (not the camera) in the direction of motion of the mouse/joystick. 🤯

I guess deep down I always liked natural scrolling.

(Still use regular scroll direction for mice with scroll wheels though, in my mind that fits perfectly with both a "drag the viewport/scrollbar down" metaphor and a "scroll the content as if it were in contact with the other side of the scroll wheel, which therefore goes in the opposite direction" metaphor. Thankfully in modern desktops, all this stuff is configured per input device class, so it all just works as I want it to.)
