Is it? It's cool that things exist, but people still have to be incentivized to actually use them. I'm frustrated with Nostr about 90% of the time I use it, which has prevented me from expanding beyond the social media use case.
I can't even get my techie Bitcoiner friends to care about it, and it kind of makes sense. The onboarding has been awful in my experience and I haven't found any simple solutions that keep my private key offline completely. The ability to create sub keys or something for each app would be nice to at lease prevent having your entire life rekt with one screw up (like a dev accidentally exposing your key).
I have no interest in deepening my use nor advising other people to do so, especially normies. Even search is still a nightmare for me. (I spent several hours once just trying to find another of my own npubs). The whole relay thing is annoying too. The idea is nice, but I've lost interest in fucking around with it.
I would probably prefer some in-house server solution over Nostr for something like Slack. I get dev/tech hype, but I'll believe it when I actually see market share taken. Until then, it's just more Nostr circle jerking.

quoting nevent1q…y6uvWith Olas and Flotilla, Nostr is closing in on big tech.
