Goes to show though that the majority of platform diaspora don't want to choose which town or village to live in, they want to be told which is their next city, and follow the migrating mass to it.
We've been conditioned into an 'altogether' (possibly socio-geographically derived) centralisation expectation that is innately contrary to the logic of federation. I am quite sure that federation, for all its affordances, is not only misunderstood, but largely irrelevant to those migrating to Bsky
