the problem with a lot of these single issue political niches is they are completely ignorant as to the world and how it works and while they might sound very radical at times, at the end they assume that you can just pass laws and regulation to change something which is a necessary consequence of capitalism... as if democratic institutions function the way they're supposed to, which they do not.
i mean bear minimum to deal with the car problem would be nationalizing all auto industries, reconstructing all major cities, massive public works projects etc. you need at least an FDR or Allende type Social Democrat in power to do that
