Back when I was in online retail, instead of games, I tried out some pay per click type advertising.
I *VERY* quickly stopped advertising all but my most expensive and high profit items, because I'd be lucky to break even otherwise. I had okay luck with some items that sold for $185, just because they had a pretty decent net profit, so that I could absorb the $20 or so cost per sale, but most of what I sold was significantly less expensive than that, and just wasnt' worth advertising that way
