Switching from Twitter to here, in hindsight, was a sort of slow detoxification I only recognized much later. I thought I must be just adjusting to the way Mastodon is different, but it was actually both.

Without the algorithm I don’t organically come across as much hate, but I also don’t go looking for it. Without monitization, big name influencers or champions of Mastodon not sure how it ever becomes an alternative to the commercial platforms.
