I'm in the middle of Ada Palmer's Terra Ignota series and loving it so far. She's a classicist at Uni of Chicago, and it's really cool reading speculative fiction from someone with that background.
(It can be a little Gene Wolfe-like in places. For example, I think my favorite chapter is the one where a character, for reasons that make sense in the story, is speaking in a sort of neo-Latin, and we are being given the Latin, one character's translation, and the narrator teases in the footnotes that they don't think the translation is quite right.)
