theres a bill on the table for banning conversion therapy on sexual orientation and gender identity in the uk, to have its second reading on the 1st of March. It's tabled and written by a Brighton MP Labour and Co-op MP (yes the same co-op who run the shops and funerals), and its backed by every pro-trans pro-LGBTQ+ charity in the UK.
However because the language states that it will prevent conversion therapy that are attemptes to change someone to being transgender or to not be transgender, many uk trans people are now spooking each other that this is somehow all a cunning plan to ban all gender care for trans people.
Never mind that every pro-trans and queer charity supports it and they're the ones who have actual human rights lawyers who have definitely read the bill and would immediately understand if this was some sinister plot.
Never mind its tabled by a pro-trans MP from the most pro-trans city in the UK.
This is one of those moments where its like, ok, we have to take a moment and recognise that we are a community with intense PTSD/cPTSD and therefore our worldview is often coloured with the assumption that no one is capable of caring or understanding or wanting to help.
