It's because learning the concept of "peradventure" is critical.
You see, Sir Gawain was minding his own business, not bothering anything or anyone. You could say he was unbothered, moisturized, happy, in his lane, focused, and flourishing. Then, all of a sudden some unknown asshole kicks down the door, points at our dear hero and changes everything. That's "peradventure": An adventure you didn't want, never thought about and damn sure didn't expect to actually happen and yet . . . here we are, fucked beyond all manner of reckoning.
What you do now is what peradventure demands, what the Knight demands, what God demands, of you. Of us.
