Jan 8, 1968, Stax Records released Otis Redding's song "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay." With Redding whistling for the last 15 to 20 seconds of the song. Whistling wasn't supposed to be there. Redding died in a plane crash on Dec 10, 1967, and had intended to record new lyrics over the last part of the song; the whistling was a placeholder. When Redding died, Stax decided to release the song anyway. The song hit No1 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart and won 2 Grammys.
