Yes. It’s a few hundred words long and establishes two key elements: 1) The location 2) The dead body. Chapter one opens with my MC reactions to the above.
Betas like the prologue. I’ve kept it short so even those odd people who skip them will bother to read it.
For me, a prologue reveals the catalyst for the story.
As a reader, I’m not a fan when they’re used as info dumps or written from the POV of a character I shouldn’t invest in.
