Inflation does much worse than directly devaluing your dollar savings. When you sell non-dollar assets that "appreciate" in dollar price (even if they lose real value) you are taxed on these phantom "gains". It's a sneaky way to separate you from the value of your labor and savings over time. In as little as one lifetime, a family can easily lose everything they worked for to this form of theft. Over several lifetimes, all value usually goes to the state for redistribution. The people who perpetrate this will tell you it is "for the greater good."
