I love looking at the environmental regulation of other countries, particularly in the global South, and finding that their laws are more modern and ambitious than ours. When you point that out to German legal professionals, many of them get defensive. "Those laws are on the books, but have you looked at the implementation? Enforcement is a joke!"
Well, yes. Because most laws have an aspirational component. And I invite you to look at enforcement of environmental rules in Germany...
