It was the greatest generation who created the good times of 1965-1995, the hight of American prosperity. It probably peaked a little after 1971 when we went full fiat. The boomers are responsible for the decline, and they cannot see it nor cede their power in business and politics. Since then, the cost of living has outpaced real wages by a substantial margin, and most noticeably in the past 3.5 years.
In 1995-2025, we have seen the greatest wealth stagnation in history. The wealthy boomers have held onto their wealth, and we spend more tax dollars on the unwealthy ones than we do on our children!
Social security was a damnable lie. It was and is still theft. Those who need help in their old age should first look to their children, then to community, long before the state. Turning the natural order on its head is one of the few major factors of the current condition of our society.
