Edward Sneeden (npub1htg…uwmm) There shouldn't be a practical difference between a locally made and federated post in a proper AP server, and an horde of hourly cron jobs posting random pictures won't go out of their way to actively federate with the rest of the network. I feel like this decision can mostly be attributed to Mastodon's ineffeciency and resource hogging.
