is the 1st mover.
nobody would trust an obfuscated L1.
people are *just now* coming to believe that a *transparent L1 could actually be money.
but as time progresses, trusting cryptography will become more and more normalized.
eventually the necessity for complete surveillance on L1 to ensure supply will disappear. FUDing #monero supply guarantees will become an "OK boomer" situation.
technologies arent perfect out of the box
and they exist within a specific social context.
the way the 2010s progressed, with monero following Bitcoin after a few years

quoting note1y4s…p45cI’d rather see bitcoin push for native privacy guarantees without the need for another chain. Something like first class mixing for all transactions below a certain utxo threshold. Opt in by default at the protocol layer.
Btc needs to remain auditable, otherwise nobody will feel safe that additional coins haven’t been created beyond the guaranteed 21M limit.
