Thinking about #bitcoin cost basis. Hear me out.
Point 1. We all agree we didn't get lucky, it was a lot of work to know what you needed to know to believe as hard as you needed to believe to succeed in bitcoin.
Point 2. Financial advisor is a profession. If you followed my advice you did very well, so I am a good financial advisor at the top of my field.
To that end, I think the cost basis of my bitcoin should reflect my services working for me as a financial advisor. I intend to bill myself accurately based on resources invested.
Thinking through what those costs are, here is what I have come up with so far.
My time researching bitcoin (reading books and listening to podcasts)
My expenses for books
My hardware wallet horde
My time consulting with other experts (shitposting on nostr)
My laptop I use for transactions
My phone for podcasts
My ereader for books
My home office where I do all of the above
Any expenses I have forgotten?
