I like to think of tactics as a toolbox - some problems call for a wrench, some for a hammer.
Imagine saying "you must never use the wrench, the hammer is the only effective tool."
There are situations (like whether we tolerate Nazis) in which ONLY the hammer will work. There are also situations (like whether we find common ground with decent people who are imperfectly aligned with us) where only the wrench will work, and where the hammer will just break everything.
