Like there are a few black characters in this book and they're described in fairly trope-y ways, there's an Asian guy with a sword, there are not a lot of pages wasted on "Hey we made a lot of this money with human trafficking, let's try to ameliorate those harms"

Like having a social consciousness is not *expected* from an author, to me, but in 2025 it's definitely strongly preferred.
