Yeah, you have to cut on the crap
Here's what I do:
-Go there and calculate your maintenance calories
https://www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator.html
-Try to aim for the weight loss calorie count. I go for 1500-1700
-Start walking, 10k steps a day if you can help it (yes, there's rest days). Be warned that 20k steps and co are possible, but you'll get minor feet injuries without rest between
-Once you've mastered walking, you can usually finish the 10k step count with a jog. During work, I usually do 6.5k during lunch time (if the temp permits it), then I do the rest while jogging after work
-You could probably do Ring Fit Adventure or something if it rains instead, the point of the jogging is getting your heart rate going mostly
-Get some mostly healthy snacks if you're way under the calories for today
That's about it. I have mastered the way of lazy food and that's really good for calories calculations. Some meat, frozen steamed vegetables, that's about it
