I've been following THE most thrilling scientific investigation of this very strange fungus a person found on the inside of a lid of tomato-based pasta sauce that had been in the fridge. The person sent the sample to Matt Kasson PhD, a fungus specialist and he's been posting up his investigations, discoveries and finally today, the results of what this fungus actually is. It has been found in Arctic soils/ice and other cold regions and he has finally been able to name it. How it got into the pasta sauce lid remains unknown. Utterly brilliant stuff.
