There’s a model of a Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress I put together in the 90s that sits on top of my dresser. It’s a reminder to me of the men who flew in B-17s like “Chowhound,” shot down in August, 1944; nine men were KIA. 80 years after the end of WW2 in Europe and the defeat of Nazi Germany, I’m also reminded how the U.S. is sliding toward something those men died fighting and that’s fascism. We can’t let that happen. We owe so many who died fighting fascism during WW2 that much.
